Hi,
I'm considering buying the CS4397 DAC eval board and base on the main part perform upgrades (better PS, input coupling transformer, output transformer instead of opamps, etc.).
However, how far can I possibly take it? When paired with a good transport, does it has the "potential" to better good CDP/DACs like ECM-1, GamuT CDP, Audio Note DAC, or SCD-1/SCD-XA777ES (Playing CD)?
I need a reality check before embarking on such a project. If the potential is not there, then I'd rather get one of the good production untis.
