I generally do not recommend fiddlering with the amp's hearts
circuity. ie pre-amp & power-amp circuits because they are
tuned together as one piece. But I do recommend upgrading
the power supply. Manufacturers cut corners on PS caps.
Starting with the power-amp PS.Replace with same or double uF but same voltage
Computer grade Caps. ie High ripple current and
low ESR type. I recommend panasonic BA series.
digi-key sells some if you live in US. Actually,
I'm not sure AA or BA aeries --- can't remember,
if you are serious, reply me and I'll check it out
for you. If you can afford 2 OPA627s, I'm quite
confident you can also afford computer garde Big
Caps. You will notice improvement in bass response.
It's good idea to bypass the power-amp with good
qulaity caps.Stay with the OPA2604. They are good. 604's are
JFETs based.2134 are used for tape output because it has
high drive capabalities. If you send me the schmatics, I can show you
how to upgrade the whole amp from bottom up.Oh, I forgot: If you want to upgrade the pre-amp
& power-amp circuity, Change the feedback resistors
to Caddocks. Caddocks are available from partsneXtion
and Borbely-audio. For the pre-amp part, there are 2
resistors for each channel. Change them to Caddocks of
the same value.James Yung
