I see no potentional problems with your option. There are betetr options, not very complex, using 12V wall wart power supply and one transistor to get proper 0/12V. the best would be to install this transistor inside amp using amp's power supply and existing trigger out.
But as long as it works what you have done is just as good as any other option with Pentium4 and 256GB of ram. You need nothing better.
