Caig Products are mostly Naptha (i.e. Lighter Fluid)75% Naptha
20% IsoPropane (the propellent in the aerosol can)The remaining 5% has got to be a corrosion inhibitor, likely a barium compound.
If you want effective cleaning on the cheap, clean your stuff with a soft brush such as an acid brush using isopropyl alcohol, followed by drying with compressed air.
Then give it a treatment of lighter fluid. Wipe off any excess material.
5 ounces of Caig DeOxit costs roughly $10
Don't get me wrong it's a great product.
Military Aircraft use corrosion inhibitive compounds that are almost exactly the same chemically as Caig products for avionic and structural applications.
Shame it all costs so much. Essentially you're paying for the convienience of a delivery system, be it an aerosol or pen or wipe.
Isopropyl to clean and Lighter Fluid to treat............Cheap.........Almost The Same.
