I have no idea what the sweeps do, but I can tell you from my experience that the two sweeps provided in the XLO disc do audibly nice things to my system. If ever it sounds collapsed, uneven or somewhat distorted, several sweeps clean up the sound. The three-dimensionality returns, and the dynamics seems to be freed. It's strange, because it seems that you can hear the sweeps doing their work when you play them. If the system appears to be in good need of it, the lower frequencies of the full-frequency sweep stutter somewhat the first two times or so. I can tell its work is done when the whole sweep is played cleanly without starts and stops or other fluctuations. The sweeps were also good tracks to use to identify some small distortion recently (a tube was about to die). Not too expensive to at least try out....
