As I said, I think a lot depends on the choice of speaker and stand. I should have mentioned that floors make a difference too, though I've tried my Dyn setup on both a sprung wooden floor and a slab, and basically came to the same conclusions about the Dyn cones with both. I make no claim about what would be better with different stands. If I had to say anything, I'd say that I am surprised by how much in the way of subtle and, occasionally, not so subtle differences can be achieved by playing around with what you stick between a speaker and it's stand. The best I can say is 'Experiment!'In some ways I'm not surprised by my results with the Dyns/Dyn stands. I suspect what I'm hearing is the way Dynaudio actually voiced the speaker since one would assume they'd use their own stands in their test rooms. If they got the speaker right, and I think they did that quite well, one would expect that they would also get the stand/interface right as well.
