I don't admit being any expert but I might have come into close encounter with RFI related family of problems. It sound like your bass is not good, your highs are bleeding or slightly too strong (missing midrange), when you place your ears near the speakers you can't hear midrange and somehow you don't like the whole thing, you hate your power amp saying that it's feeble, your bass is wooly, your subwoofer integration is never perfect, your amp lacks power, your music is very loud but you can't hear it well (esp for orchestra), you can't hear that echos are lower is pitch than the actual sound inside a hall (esp for orchestral/classical stuff), you can't hear that in many recordings many instruments (are supposed to) stand out very well, you can't hear that sounds are hollographic, you don't have echoes that are midrange or low pitched, in a choir the males voices does not sound like male, you can't tell between boy sopranos and real sopranos, you can't tell between alto and sopranos, the tenor are not "grainy" in the voice texture, you can't feel the physical stress vocalists have in their breathing, dynamics are lacking (micro dynamics that spells clarity, not loudness of sound that lacks clarity)
I kept on using negatives because unless you have equipment to measure ( I don't) all you can do is to marvel at the great great improvements when it is removed. Use 0.1 uf ceramic over low voltage PS rail, use snubbers, use X rated caps on high voltage lines. use them liberally. Dig out the datasheet of EACH chip (ALL OF THEM, not just op amps) and have at least one on their power pins. You will never regret. In the end you will hope that the chips have more power pins so that you can do more !!!!
Good luck!
