A much better option for preventing oscillations, or to help damp the tweeter, without significantly altering the intended crossover function, would be to use a Zobel network, a combination of a cap in series with a resistor, and this string placed across (paralleled with) the tweeter. This instead of your 40-50 ohm resistor.About 0.27 uF to 0.1 uF, and an 8-10 ohm non-inductive resistor, for a nominal 8 ohm system. Use good quality parts, not el cheapo, or they will have a sonic impact. Polypropylene caps, Mills resistors, etc.
