I'm very new to this, so please bear w/ me. I need advice on what parts I will need to perform a Jensen output transformer mod on a stock DI/O? I want the best sound possible, but to keep everything inside the stock housing. So far, I've come up w/...- Jensen JT-11P-1 transformer
The 11P-1 is an input transformer, not an output transformer. If you use an input transformer, then it should be mounted at the input of the preamp, not the output of the DI/O.
Also, do I need to to anything else to lower the gain from 4x to ~1-2x?
Since you're going to use transformers, why not use the transformer to step down the rather silly high output of the DI/O and kill two birds with one stone?
If you're going to use an input transformer at your preamp's input, try the JT-10KB-D/DPC. If you're going to use an output transformer at the DI/O's output, try the JT-10K61-1M. All are 4:1 step-down transformers.
Good luck!
