Biffster,I have a similar problem to yours with windows on one side wall and 3 glass french doors on the other. I could not come up with an acceptable solution for treating the side walls. I did however make the Risch panels that I have behind the speakers. I used colored burlap and the color is amazingly close to the wall color. My wife had been rolling her eyes and dreading the look until it was done. Her comment was "I hardly even notice them". I almost fell over. These panels tightened things up a bit and really helps bring out the depth.
Now if she could "hardly even notice" these same behemoths in front of the side windows and doors, I would really be in luck. Not a chance!
