Sub for my simple amp

209.86.178.25

First let me tell you what I have got. I have an Ah Njoe Toebe!4000 tubed CD player, a Jolida Integrated 1501 Hybrid amp with a tubed preamp stage, a well built two way -Vifa based speaker set with 6.5 woofs and 1" silk tweeters on sand filled sand filled stands. The system rests on a Flexy stand and the CD player has a sand bag gracing it, while speakers are blue tacked to the stand and stands are tacked to the floor --- Cat 5 braided speaker wires are on the way. This description will avoid questions later and fulfill any curiosity.

I think I would like to try a sub now, and I want something clean and tight with only modest output. I don't want to hurt what I have now which is good. My amp has only one output, and because I have no preamp in this setup, I am confused as to how I should best accomplish this. The Jolida guy says to just go from the speaker level outputs on the amp to the subs amp and that it will not hurt the sound by adding harmfull impedance or capacitance, especially if the sub amp is close to the main amp. Should I believe this or should I try to get a y output from the Cd Player and drive the sub amp with this?. I want to put the sub in just at 50 hz where the main speakers are down and maybe stuff the main speakers ports with dacron to reduce bass to about 70 hz so I can electronically bring the sub in at 50 hoping for the perfect melding. Does going from the Jolida outs to another amp really not hurt what is happening in the main speaker output?? Is any of this realistic? Help Garth
