There is more to speaker cables than sheer amplitude losses.Seeking high quality performance is not the same as avoiding fire hazards ala UL wire gauge requirements, etc.

which have to do with the typical Integrated Circuit op-amp outputstages used, and their inability to drive any significant capacitive loads.Otherwise, interconects suffer less signal losses than most speaker cables, and so would be the one to make longer.
As it ism, in the real world of less than ideal source output stages, it has to be a compromise of lengths on both ends.
Always, the shorter the better.
