Practical wideband absorbers do not belong in a living room, that's
why. And anyway, the old Quads have heavily damped backs, they
are not open at all and exhibit a monopole character from 1kHz on.As for RC devices
1) only the very first reflections are taken care of (if possible),
and these are entirely characterised by their impulse responses,
of which the inverse Laplace transform yields the frequency response.2) the room's reverberant tail is not dealt with, as this is utterly
impossible, so a bathroom really can not be turned into a padded cell.
