AI Mod3A - What's the latest ? anyone know?

192.11.226.102

I've heard a few indications that Art may have made improvments to the Mod 3A. Just wondering if you may have heard anything.

1)Art told me he was investigating replacing the roderstien resistors on the volume control knobs with: "some copper resistors from the UK" he couldn't remember the name. I offered Holco, he half heartedly said: "yeah, I think that's it."

2) Caps - I read that one individual is getting his caps wrapped with Lead at Art's labs. Don't know if it was custom or a new feature. What kind of caps do they use anyway? My guess would have been Relcap because of the black color on the ends, but Relcap deny's it (they are nice honest people). Sidebar: Sony has "discovered" Teflon Caps for some of thier high end units. Relcap advised me to buy now if you want more Teflon caps (they are very time consuming to make so demand may exceed supply).

FWIW - I got great results eliminating the resistor in series with outputs #2. It is a easy/medium difficult soldering job. (Amps input resistance is 23k ohms, 2 amps used, MIT 330plus i/c).

So, if you know anything, please share it.
