Yes, I have been black listed at Cerwin Vega. Oh well, I am 'the consumer from hell' and this has happen before. I did indeed run CV ragged; parts & service and tech. I played those speakers 8 to 10 hours a day and wore them out. They won't talk to me.I know what the opinion of CV is here and this is no attempt to change that. I have no experience with their more expensive models but on the lower end, I'm impressed. I had a 12" three-way, at $350 a pair they were worth the coin.
[To Joe Blow, this is a lot of money to spend on speakers; ask your neighbors. Most of us here started our love affair with music with a boombox or radio, depending on your generation. You remember, the one mom got for you from K-Mart.]
Being I enjoy Techno and heavy drum & base, (I'm 50); these CVs were the better choice at the supermarket. In the morning I listen to classical; (Andres Segovia), with simple transits the speakers gave a full rendition at low volume; (spl &test CD). Although made for mass-market equipment, they responded well to upgrades in amplification, go figure.
Being as conditions are, figure I do a little upgrading. DIY time.
The only things left, are the X/Os and wood on the cabinet. Got some good deals at PE; upgraded, modified and tweaked. Next step is to bi-amp and these are the X/Os I have on hand. A little work on them, it seems.
The budget is in concession to the small increase in upgrading to tri-amping. I prefer to bi-amp as the pre-amp has a DAC and I use that center channel for those 'bad CDs'.
