Re: Electrolytics with long leads

Hi Glenn,

What a coincidence. I just upgraded my CD67 over the weekend and exactly those caps that you were worried about. See my posting just a few messages above yours.

Regarding your concern, yes, i simply stood those 4 caps off PCB. But, before i placed in the caps, i added some electrical insulation tape along the edge and sides of the HDAM shield to eliminate any possibility of the leads of the caps shorting against the shield. Also, because the diameter of the caps were larger (i used 1000uF/16V Elna Cerafines), there is some interference but it is still possible to place the 4x caps neatly side-by-side and just above the HDAM Shield.

Go ahead and change C651-C654 and C611-C614 to Elna Cerafine 1000uF/16V.
You will be shocked by the amount of improvement you get !!!!

The output Coupling Caps are there i think to protect against DC leakages to/from your CD player. I intend to follow Bobwire's suggestion and simply parallel with a 1uF and 0.47uF pair.

All are excellent articles and very informative.

Cheers,
Steve.
