On the TacT forum it has been agreed that using correction to reduce peaks is much better than trying to boost dips, Because of the excessive demands it can sometimes make on amplifiers and associated equipment.
Why don't you experiment with your EQ to reduce all your peaks and use very little EQ boost, if any at all. I assume you can then reset your overall gain levels to match the midrange.
