i am simply referring to the load presented by the transformer to the source, and the inductance of the primary is in paralell with that 50K (or whatever) reflected load, so your source has to be able to drive both.

if the spec for the dac is to drive 1K or greater, even if you load the secondary with 50K, as frequency goes down so does the load, and it would be wise to check to see that at least 1K is being presented to the dac down past the lowest frequency of interest.

lets say for arguement, the 600 ohm 1:1 has an inductance of 10 hy's and a load of 50K, at 20 hz, that gives us a load of about 1225 ohms.

i am reasonably sure the jensen has much more inductance than that, so in this case it should be fine.

Yes. My main point was that he was looking at the input impedance spec for a 600 ohm load impedance when in fact he wouldn't be using it to drive a 600 ohm load.

i went through this with my DDE 1.0 when i put a transformer attenuator on the voltage out of the chip... it is speced to drive a min of 3K iirc, so i went for 3K at 10hz or about 50hy's knowing the reflected load will be so high the inductance will for the most part determine the load.

long story short... the bass sucked.... i upped the inductance about 4X, and suddenly everything was much better...

Coolness. Though in terms of actually rolling off the bass response, you can achieve the same effect as increasing primary inductance by decreasing the driving source impedance. It won't change the load but will reduce low frequency cutoff versus a higher impedance source.
