Thanks for the replies. Yeah, I kinda knew the answer, but I wanted to hear it from those more experienced with MOSFETS.Believe it or not, I'm not at all concerned with blowing the output devices or speakers, my primary concern was just about something catching on fire. The output devices on the B&K EX442 have been replaced at the factory (before I bought it used) with current Hitachi MOSFETS, so if they blow up I won't have problems finding suitable replacements. Likewise, I plan on doing some mods to my NHTs, so if something melts down I won't cry too hard. Replacing my house and two cats would be impossible, not to mention how pissed Mrs. woodman would be ;)
All the fuses in the B&K are 6A slo-blo except for the 10A line fuse. This last round of mods elevated the amp from "really good stereo" to "actual high-end" levels, and it'll be hard to go back if the fuses were the culprit. I think I'll try ceramic fuses, shorter fuses, and/or better fuse holders and see (listen) what happens.
