Typically most CDs and DVDs used for adjusting levels would recommend a level at about 75db for calibration... So, you set the meter at 70db and slow responce C weighted and crank the volume until it reads 75db... Ofcourse, your signal is that of a test signal (white, Pink , or Warble) coming from the receiver or a CD/DVD...I use the same SPL meter without a problem!
