DIY IC's, AC cords, and speaker cables...

These make an astonishing improvement in your system for very little $$'s. I've made a lot of different cabels and the best I have found are(in order of ease):
1. Jon Risch's Belden 89259 coax IC's
2. Jon Risch's Belden 89259/8928 coax IC twists(much better)
3. Bob Crump's Belden 19364 AC Cords
4. Jon Risch'c Belden dual 89259 cross-connected speaker cables
5. Chris Venhaus' Cat5 braided speaker cables(a lot of work)

All of these are excellent, high-performace, cables. The biggest problem is finding a source for the raw cable, which usually means buying it in 100+ ft. lengths and then finding others to buy your excess. Then you got to get rca plugs, ac plugs, etc. It is a bit of a hassle and expense.

Although, and inmate Kevin P. now sells everything you need in a kit form for a ver good price. Try his website for a complete explanation and prices. Then search the cables forum for info and reviews of these cables. You cannot go wrong.

Also, switch your wall outlet to a cheap Pass & Seymour 5242-X outlet($5). It makes a significant difference in background noise, even if you don't hear any now. After switching outlets and AC cords, you will be dumbstruck at how much noise was in your system. You can find P&S outlets at most major electrical suppliers(not Home Depot), just call around from your Yellow Pages.
