The legs of Ikea Lack tables are indeed hollow, but may be cut with a handsaw if you're careful. I cut one down to around 4 inches as an amp stand. At either end of the leg is a partical board block around 2 inches thick. Between them it's all air. The trick, as Ken mentions, is to remove this block from the piece you cut off, then glue it into the remaining section of leg to form a supportive footer, into which you may then install a spike. Easy to do and works quite well for a lossy amp stand. You should also glue the legs on.Ken, I have a question. I've been thinking about filling my Lacks with some sort of foam because, as good as they are, they nonetheless amplify the sound of my Orbe's motor like a guitar body. Any recommendations for how to do this, and with what?
Thanks.
Bill
