I wish to make a simple stepped attenuator or even a one position volume control to determine a "best possible" baseline. Problem is I don't understand electronics very well. Regarding the one volume design, from what I've learned I need two resisters, one in series and one in parallel for each channel. So each channel has two wires right? So what hooks up to what?Another question: Resisters come with different power ratings - how does this apply?
Last question: my SET has a sensitivity of 1.2V for max output and my CDP has 2V output. Speakers are 102dB sensitive. What would be a good starting point for my two resisters (assume 85dB standard)?
With this info I will build it with RS stuff first to see if I can do it then look into better stuff. Maybe I can even build a stepped attenuator some day.
