Raymond,I found that cutting the veneer with a sharp craft knife (in the
direction that won't split the grain) up to about 5mm from the edge
of the hole, and then sanding the remainder down by hand, worked fine,
although as you say the last part is time-consuming.If you haven't put the veneer on yet, I would also recommend making
a cut across the grain of the veneer where this covers the hole, as
this stops the veneer splitting as it dries.Alex
