Tweakers' Asylum Tweaks for systems, rooms and Do It Yourself (DIY) help. FAQ. |

Hello all,
I have a Marantz SR-18 a/v receiver, and this piece came with the usual cheap binding posts that come with a/v receivers. They're actually not even posts, they're more like a large plastic clamp, with some sort of tin-plated metal contacts on the inside surfaces where the speaker cable goes. I wanted to re-wire the speaker connections with some solid silver wire, and I wanted to try the "wire-to-wire clamp" idea, as listed on the tweakaudio.com website. I was wondering if the tin-plated metal would screw up the sound any, even though the wires(speaker & internal from amp)will be in direct contact with each other. I want to try this before I waste money on the expensive binding posts available. Thanks for the help:)Best regards,
Douglas
