Re: Has anyone used 431s in series for higher voltage?

Hi,

Easier - yes. But using a cascoded LM/Tl431 retains the full dynamic and static behaviour of the 431, while adding to the voltage range. Basically have your cake (or Turkey) and eat it. The TL/LM 431 is VERY hard to beat on bost static and dynamic behaviour, given an easy to implement 3-pin device. Once you go fully discrete with optimied dynamic bahaviour plus a precisition "servo" style Op-Amp for the DC regulation you get better, very much so. Too much hassle for me, life's too short -long live 3-legged creepy crawlies....
