Hi All,I saw this tweak at http://www.geocities.com/johnallg/john/, under articles.
Pin 4 and pin 2 are normally connected in the TDA1541. The data sheet does say that pin 4 offers the user the opportinity to connect to a clock, thereby ensuring "jitter-free output" for both L and R outputs.
For the record I am in zero-oversampling (John above was not), passive IV conversion (John above was not) mode.
Performing teh mod is trivial. Disconnet pin 4 from pin 2 of teh DAC and connect pin 4 to pin pin 9 of teh SAA7220.
Initial listening tests suggest that there is more transient info coming through (hall effects, etc) and that note decay is more clearly discernable. Also the bass appears less bloomy. The highs can seem a bit prominent though, but then I have NO filtering after passive IV conversion via a resistor (50 ohms per channel).
In fact I ended up placing two small ferrite beads on each line to output (post IV conversion resistor) in order to lessen the prominence of the highs. Does anyone have a filter they can suggest?
