Tweakers' Asylum Tweaks for systems, rooms and Do It Yourself (DIY) help. FAQ. |

Hi All,I'd like to build a small low-current DC PS for a couple of small PAPST fans I want to add for cooling my amp. I'm in the process of milling some heatsinks that will screw into the chassis and these fans will cool them actively. It's not so much that they need special active cooling - though Chicago does gets quite hot in the summer if you have no AC - but I just wanted to learn something about how to build power supplies for future projects. It'd also be nice to have something that can power various devices I might want to add to the system (active filters for TV, and whatnot).
Is there a good book out there with schematics/howtos on how to build good power supplies? I'm more interested in theory of design rather than just examples. I'm sure plenty of EE books have standard PS designs, but I'd rather not pay $120 for a textbook. I'd also prefer to learn about the more specific purpose of providing cleaner 'audio' grade power.
Thanks!
-Chris
