WD40 can help but a penetrating oil is really what you need. Another thing I've used for seized parts is heat like a soldering iron or a butane torch lighter. Unfortunately my experiences with the latter usually results in collateral damage! Proceed with caution.

(I have a minty BIC 2 speed cassette deck that a friend gave me recently. I remember it from when we bought it shopping for stereo stuff many decades ago. They made some neat stuff.)
