A passive preamp with just a pot will have a output impedance of 1/4 of the value of the pot when adjusted for -6db. That is high enough that it might be a problem depending of the cable capacitance and the Miller capacitance of the input tube of the power amp. It can attenuate the high frequencies.Tre'
