That's what I use under a very heavy turntable (about 60 lbs in a slate plinth). There's actually a valid rationale for it, and I like to think it works, which is as good as if it actually works. The bottom of the can rests on a carbon fiber cone such that the rim around the can does not touch the shelf. Whereas the slate plinth sits on top of the raised rims of the cans. (Three cans used.) The idea is that energy from below can only flex the recessed bottom of the can, causing energy to be dissipated in a random way by the water in the can. The TT is isolated from any such disturbance because it only is in contact with the rim. Total cost for 3 cans = $6.
