Roland V-Drums Tweaks

After a number of issues have been addressed, an ongoing plan to get a set of electronic Roland V-Drums up and running is close to being accomplished. Other than Lummy and a few other AA Inmates know I'm a retired professional drummer, I'd like to share what I have in plan as an audiophile to provide better audio performance for what is a high-end pro audio application, being improved by audiophile-quality gear for the purpose.

Not particularly expensive, but high-performance gear is planned to be used to make the electronic drum kit sound better vs. the stock form out of the box will provide. Not to mention audiophile-quality cabling involved in the line-level applications, and audiophile-quality cabling otherwise involved in the monitoring applications, most vital is the stock switch mode AC adapter for the Roland drum sound module will be replaced with my favorite low-cost Studer900 regulated linear power supply unit, based on the stellar Swiss-made Studer 900 recording console power supply design that provides a very low-noise floor with excellent imaging and an outstanding soundstage presentation for audiophile applications, in my experience.

Furthermore, I'll use my favorite affordable Oyaide Black Mamba V2 bulk power cable terminated with my choice of AC connectors based on which set provides the best sound to my ear for the electronic drum set, exactly to my own listening taste. A merging of pro audio sensibilities, with audiophile sensitivities will make this endeavor even more meaningful to me as a drummer. The sound of a drum set, whether acoustic or electronic has always been half of what being a drummer is all about, in my book. This is an exciting time for woodshedding as a musician right here and right now, in the safety and security of my home. Wish me well as a fellow AA Inmate as I explore the adventure of being a drummer again, during this time of crisis we all must endure until further notice. Finding joy in what we choose to do with our time is most important, these days.
