Perhaps you don't think the OP has common sense. It's not as though a large amount of metal is going to be displaced in the process for two small terminals. One can safely use a metal nibbler, a step drill bit with the small area isolated with paper and masking tape, or your method with a rare tool. In any case, careful attention to removing all metal chips is vital, of course.
