Substitute a Switching Wall Wart with a Linear Wall Wart?

Can a switching wall wart be directly replaced/substituted with linear wall wart? I have a Musical Fidelity V-90 BHA headphone amp that uses a switching wall power supply. The little amplifier sounds very nice.

The stock switching supply "looks"/"feels" VERY cheap. It has something rattling inside. All that doesn't mean it's not doing a good job; there's no obvious issue I'm trying to fix.

I would just like to experiment with a different supply to explore whether that might make a difference for a small cost. Can I go linear? Maybe a "better" switching supply?

The specs are:

Input: 100V-240V-0.3A 50Hz/60Hz
Output: 12V 500mA 6W max
Center +, shell -
Model #: GS2U-006-120-B1

Thanks.
