I hate to be the bearer of bad news but Nickel plated parts in AC applications adds a bit of harshness or brightness to the sound. Some of us have been getting as much of it out of the way as possible. I believe part of the reason is mass produced products like the fuses you mention only use the nickel to make the part shinny and non corrosive. They don't clean their plating baths very often and they become contaminated. I had some tests done on a very expensive plating analyser. The commercial nickel plate we tested looked more like Stainless steel to the analyser.
