Yes, it is a good idea to solder directly from the (+) and (-) pins directly to ground. Just scrape the solder mask from the adjacent nearest ground plane and solder the ground lead of the cap directly to it. I would recommend leaving the electrolytic decoupling caps in place and merely solder small .1uf film caps in this manner to prevent potential oscillation.Dan W.
