For everyday use, Kester or Ersin brand 63/37 (% of tin and lead) alloy. The Kester with the "44" flux core. For ultra tweak connections/projects, Ersin or Kester 62/36/2 (tin/lead/silver %) alloy.
Both or one or the other of these types/brands are avialable form Newark, Allied, Mouser and Digi-Key. Even Parts Express has some of the two types of Kester, and in small packages.
I have NOT found ANY RS solder to be very good, however, in a pinch, their 2% silver solder IF IT IS NOT REALLY DULL LOOKING, I.E., IT IS SHINEY ALONG IT'S ENTIRE LENGTH, can be used OK. If it is corroded looking or dull, DO NOT USE !
In my opinion, do not use ANY 4% silver 96% tin solder, this makes terrible solder joints!
