Hi Allan -At least you are giving it a good try - my uneducated guess would be to move the mike a foot or so and make another set of measurements then average these - might take 4 measurements to get an average - I would think the big differnces are peaks and nulls plus maybe some reflection. I think this is why warblelated frequency-modulated 1/3 octave test CD's are used for measuring.
I once had the AIRR program (sold by Old Colony) but my old 386 wouldn't run it - something like that may help. Also - somewhere on the net there's some 'corrections' to the Radio Shack SPL meter.
I have a similar task to 'tame' a coaxial Eminence horn and that will take some measurements and crossover 'diddling'.
Somewhere there's a 'free' spectum analyzer on the web for a pc - that might work with 'pink noise' - sorry that I can't remember the program's name - I downloaded the thing - didn't have a mike to test the funtion - will write a bit later.
