Tweakers' Asylum Tweaks for systems, rooms and Do It Yourself (DIY) help. FAQ. |

I am thinking about a speaker as an alternative for my ProAc Response 2.5. The objective is to design and build a speaker that is more sensitive (± 90 db's) with a more fuller midrange (Spendor 1/2). "Musicality" rather than technical bravado is the aim. Cabinet design and construction will be done by an experienced furniture manufacturer, who is also knowledgable about sonics.Concept:
* 3 way design (Bass ± 20 litres)
* Woofer: 8545 Scanspeak
* Midrange: Seas excel W17EX-0001 6,5 inch (glass fibre) or G17REP or T17RE
* Tweeter: Dynaudio Esotar T330D or 1 inch seas or scanspeak
* Crossover points - ± 250 - 300 Hz; ± 3000 khz (I think the higher the better?)
* Second order (12db Filters)Any ideas from experienced designers will be appreciated.
Thanks
