Depending on circuitry design will depend what to do.
Sound strange but for most designes it will be to just pull the pot out. Yes just pull it out and you have no more control and entire signal will go to both channels separated. In most design balance pot does not intercept signal, but rather bypasses it.
If your circuit is design with voltage controled balance, volume, sound controls, you will either have it work this way or it will be muted. Anyway pull it out and see what hapens. It should not burn or something. But if it doesn't work, then take schematic to some tech to tell you what and how to replace/install.
