RE: Drilling/sawing bamboo boards

Bamboo is as hard as maple so have good blades. Pilot hole w/ a 1/2" bit and then a sabre saw. Go slow and it'll be fine. Draw your outline of course.

I just re-sawed an opening in a moving shelf/ plinth from a Telefunken console to allow a much better Garrard Lab 80 to fit and it went fine. I've got to make a new plinth for my Dual 622 and may get two of those and sandwich them together to replace the plastic POS Dual included with this pretty nice table.

It is 3/4" thick, is that enough for you or are you putting two together. Two together would look nice w/the two tops glued together with about 10/12 dowels added to add strength.

EDIT: Just looked closer and the 11" depth of the chopping block isn't going to work for the Dual it should be about 13.5 deep min says Dual-and now I just saw that the Butcher block is over 14 D and would work.
