Hi! I have been using pro amps for about 10 years with active crossovers. I use 3 Crown K2's and 2 Behringer EP2500's, modified of course! Of course, with active crossovers, it really frees up a lot of inner detail and micro and macro dynamics. I experimented with a $250 Behringer DCX2496 vs a $600+ passive crossover setup on a pair of open-baffle speakers. That $250 Behringer TROUNCED the ultra-expensive passive crossover components I was using! There was more inner-detail, more openness, better frequency extension, greater dynamics, more immediacy. It was quite a revelation. I will forever be a passive preamp, active crossover guy!
