RE: unterminated IC design

Thanks for the input. How about just sealing the tube ends to keep moisture and air out? Then I would only have to clean the exposed wire when it looks like my tarnished old silver flute. I also think the cotton could be a source of moisture if the tube ends are not sealed and it will be in partial contact with the Ag wire.
