That's my opinion too. They are rubbish and extremely limiting. The biggest joke is that the cheapest RCA connector (that carries tiny currents) would (does*) make a better power connector. Tradition sometimes sucks... Often you can't easily remove the jack end though.

I can assure you that very many people sell VERY high price PSs/gear that terminate in these connectors. More nonsense. That's why we're here...

*edit: they are quite commonly used for that for telescope accessories' outputs...not likely to be confusion there
