Tweakers' Asylum Tweaks for systems, rooms and Do It Yourself (DIY) help. FAQ. |
|
Recently I have been seeing a lot of posts on crystal tweaks, and I would like to share one of my own.
Other than my set of XLR cables which has a couple crystal filled boxes on them (see my post on the cable asylum), I have also assembled this piece last year, which goes between the power cord and equipment. It is basically a clone of the Acoustic Revive RAS-14, but with different construction materials. Mine is made with a Furutech FI-15R inlet, Oyaide 079 outlet, a stretch of Acoustic Revive Powermax 8800 powercord with the jacket on the section inside the box removed, a plastic box and of course a mix of crytals. Be warned that insulation should be treated very seriously as we are dealing with live voltage here!
Works really nicely on my preamp, bringing a nice sense of stablity, blackness and voices gained a good dose of organic-ness. WHile not exactly cheap in parts count, it is quite a bit more affordable than branded products.
