When a Mini-TosLink adapter connecting a glass TosLink cable placed in my computer audio rig is wrapped with Teflon plumbers tape, playback seems much improved, to my ear. Several inches of Telfon tape wrapped around the slotted interface area is sufficient for the task... YMMV
