Earl,
I know Al doesn't use the GC tweak at all, and I use both the tweaks to which you refer. Since all my electrical tweaks are made to both Al's and Bud Purvine's (the ground control father) specs, I can speak knowledgeably about them.
They work highly successfully together in my system.
If you're curious, you can test this extremely easily. Just make a 6" loop of ordinazry 18 AWG zip cord (anything will do), strip the ends and twist the ends together. Insert those bare wire ends first at the speaker end, then at the amp end of your speaker cable.ONLY in the negative poles does this work!!!! Wait about 2-20 minutes. If you hear no appreciable (or a deleterious) difference, then this tweak is not worth your time or money.
But if you DO hear the desired difference, then go buy or craft something that is better, because this tweak is cumulative also and has other places you can add it as well as on the speaker cable.
In my system these were a fantastic complement to the other tweaks and I would be loathe to do without them! Putting them in a friend's lowfi system opened up his sound immediately.
