If you use a continuity tester you should find that all of the modern equipment is grounded through the RCA and XLR connections. But you can check it and then make grounds if needed.
Of course, if there is a ground loop hum then getting rid of the ground can be an issue.
Tangentially, reading the article reminded me of what I had done in the early 1990's. The next paragraph discusses plug polarity. I remember clipping off all the flanges from the neutral blade of the plug and then switching it around (this was before most products had ground plugs) to see if it sounded better. I will not do that again.
