I just lay them on top of trannies (over the casing of the component, not inside), and if you don't have a shelf under the component to lay it on (or it's raised too high off the shelf) just tape or Blu-Tak it to the chasis bottom.
For PCs at the end, I just use a rubber band to hold it in place.
I tape it with duck tape onto breaker boxes and those types of wiring harnesses.
