PS Audio Premier arrived today. A nifty feature it had was the THD analyzer. My incoming wall power fluctuated between 1.6%-1.7% THD.
Within two minutes of the above photo, next I powered the PS Audio Premier using the power from the PurePower APS 700.
It then read a THD fluctuating between 2.5%-2.6%, even higher than using the wall receptacle alone.
I would have loved to do this with the Monarchy AC Regenerator, but it was only 100 watts, and the PS Audio Premier drew 112 watts at idle.
Next, I dug out my Entech Wideband Powerline Noise Analyzer. It read 4.9 at wall receptacle, 4.6 from PurePower APS 700, 2.4 from the Monarchy AC Regenerator, 0.9 from PS Audio Premier, and 0.6 from a Monster power strip as shown below. Perhaps not as useful figures, but at least a second opinion device.
As far as that cricket buzz, the PS Audio Premier does not have it with my ear up to the speakers. I will do more in-depth listening to determine whether it has any humm or buzz of its own, but that will be determined in its own separate review. It is a little taller so I will have to order more Herbie's spike receptacles for the rack above, but for now I feel quite relieved.
